Frontend Developer
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Duration: 6 months + extension
Description
Qualifications
· Object-oriented programming experience with JavaScript including class creation, object instantiation and inheritance (i.e., the candidate should be familiar with detailed object-orientation, not merely creating single layer objects with the New keyword).
· Experience with JavaScript frameworks (YUI, ExtJS are preferable but other framework experience - such as Prototype, Dojo, etc - can be relevant as well. It is important that they have used it as a framework as opposed to including minor functionality for one-off UI widget).
· Strong understanding of CSS and (X)HTML and how to integrate in a standards-based fashion with each other and JavaScript.
· Proficiency with programming DHTML, experience with DOM and event programming model.
· Experience with cross-platform cross-browser development.
· Experience with XML and JSON.
· Understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
Additional preferred skills:
· Understanding of source repositories and the idioms associated with them (ClearCase is preferable but other repositories - such as CVS, Subversion/SVN, etc - are applicable).
· Server-side development background.
· Java, C and/or C++
· Mashup experience
· Familiarity with Design Patterns, particularly Model-View-Controller (MVC)
6 + years experience in front end development like HTML, Java Script with JSON and Ajax, CSS,XLS and RIA based frameworks. Good experience in YUI framework (data table experience is a must) Good Experience in Object Oriented Analysis and Designing and Object oriented programming. Good knowledge about web based applications (J2ee platform) Working weblogic env will be a plus..
IDEAL is good experience with YUI - yahoo's ajax framework! big plus to have HANDS-ON experience with YUI.
BUT NOTE: YUI isn't as important as knowing the guts and internals and details of JS. being able to setup objects in JS, inheritance in JS, all those "language" questions so that someone understands the core java / javascript language. they also need to be able to function independently and act without a lot of supervision
The application uses heavy AJAX with excel-like widgets
The person must also have good CSS and HTML - but that's a given, you can't do YUI without that.
backend dev knowledge is good but you don't need to do backend coding.
Should be comfortable using JSON - which ties into YUI.
